MiTaL is an open educational resource. The text may be used without cost except for the cost of printing copies, if desired, or hosting your own copy (web server service).
It is also open source. You are welcome to use the text as is or request the source and modify for your own course. In either case feedback is appreciated and will be incorporated into new versions. Contact the author for access to the PreTeXt source.
The primary version of MiTaL is online. This allows for the greatest number of features (e.g., online homework and interactive apps) and the greatest accessibility.
Other formats are available. A PDF version, intended for use on devices (as opposed to print), is available from the website. A PDF version intended for print (which does not contain hyperlinks, and may be black and white) can be constructed. Homework is, naturally, not live in either PDF format.
A note for accessibility: the web version is constructed so that screen readers can be effectively used. For images the current version relies on tactile version of images to be provided to students who need an alternative to viewing them on screen or in print. These can be produced by printing the SVG images using appropriate technology.
